Vancouver Shipping Lunch, the well-known events by local shipping community, decided to move to a virtual Webinar on June 18 and hosted by Haijun Yu and Bernie Jones of Vancouver ShipInvest and Management Ltd.
Three notable speakers gave very informative presentations:
Mr. Rick Mackenzie, the Vice President of RBC Global Asset Management, offered the Bank’s thoughts on the global economy, and thoughts on the path to recovery.
Mr. Peter Amat, the General Manager of Pacific Basin Shipping (Canada) Limited, focused on the Handymax and Supramax drybulk market update during the pandemic and its impact and also its outlook.
Mr. Robert Lewis-Manning, the president of Chamber of Shipping of BC, talked about impact of the Pandemic on our Canadian maritime policy and the government’s solution to deal with pandemic.
76 people registered for this free event which lasted just over an hour and half hours. There were very interesting post-pandemic presentations prompting a number of questions from the participants. It was a highly successful inaugural event and given the current circumstances, it is intended to continue for the foreseeable future.
